Meet Tina

// Notes from the wings
  • 158 cm, athletic, the shortest on this list
  • Long espresso brown hair, direct brown eyes
  • Twenty six, fluent English, very funny about the neighbourhood
  • Fashion design, cocktails assessed seriously, too many records
  • Lives in WC2, short notice is genuinely fine

WC2 is a village if you actually live in it, and Tina has the receipts. She is 158 cm, the shortest woman on this list and athletic with it, her espresso brown hair worn long and her brown eyes direct enough to cut through any amount of small talk. Twenty six. She dresses like somebody who makes clothes, because she does: a jacket altered at the shoulder, a hem taken up by hand, one piece of jewellery, and shoes she can walk home in at two in the morning.

Confident, warm, easygoing, and entirely without side. She will tell you where not to eat, which is more useful than a recommendation. Her English is fluent and funny. Fashion design is the training and the day job ambition, and she notices a badly hung seam across a dark room. Craft cocktails are the evening interest, drunk slowly and assessed seriously. Records are the clutter problem she shares with half this company and has no plan to solve.

Her evening rarely travels far. Frenchie on Henrietta Street, a narrow room with a bar at the front, does her nicely for a first drink, and after that Seven Dials is a two minute walk with a dozen doors worth trying. She has watched this district change shop by shop, and she will point out what used to be a cobbler, what used to be a theatre bar, and what should never have been allowed to become a phone shop.

She lives inside WC2 and rarely leaves it, which is why short notice works here when it works nowhere else. Send the hour to booking and she is usually walking over before the reply has landed.

Her home stage is Covent Garden, and she travels from there to every venue on the circuit. Her full listing sits with the rest of the company on the companions page.

What an evening costs

She lives four streets from most of these hotels, so an hour's notice is often plenty and half an hour is not unheard of. An hour at £250 covers a drink nearby, and two at £500 makes a proper evening of it. One exchange on WhatsApp and it is done, usually before she has finished walking over.

Each length on the ladder, the travel rule and the terms for a change of plan are set out line by line on the rates page, and the wording to send sits on the booking page.

04 Scene

An evening with Tina

Ask at seven for half past and she will make it, which is the whole advantage of booking somebody who lives around the corner. The first drink is at the front of a narrow room where the bar staff know her, and she will order for you if you hesitate for more than about four seconds.

After that the evening wanders on foot. Seven Dials at night, the courtyards behind it, a door she has been meaning to try, and a running commentary on what each place used to be. She walks fast in flat shoes and stops constantly. If you want a table somewhere proper she will produce one, and if you would rather keep moving she prefers that anyway.

// Asked backstage

Tina, in her words

Half an hour on a good night. I live four streets away, so I am usually the fastest yes in the West End.

Anything with more than four things in it. If a bartender needs a paragraph to describe a drink, something has gone badly wrong.

Under protest, and usually for fabric. Everything I actually need is inside about nine streets, which I realise is a character flaw.

Tina, in the book

Tina is on call today. Evenings, and short notice is genuinely fine Message the desk and we will confirm the hour before anything is held.

// Nothing pinned here yet

No moderated note has been left for Tina on this site so far. We publish first names, the month and the words themselves, we never invent a line, and we never print anything a companion would rather keep private. When guests do write in, their notes appear here exactly as they arrived.
