Meet Stacy

// Notes from the wings
  • 176 cm, slim, tall and unbothered by it
  • Hair near black, worn very long, with brown eyes
  • Early twenties, quick dry English
  • Night street photography, snowboarding, small comedy rooms
  • Chelsea home, short notice welcome most nights

Tall, and entirely unbothered by it. Stacy is 176 cm and slim, her near black brown hair long, her brown eyes fixing on things a second longer than expected, which is the photographer in her. Early twenties, and she dresses with an edge that stops short of costume: leather, a metallic thread, boots with some height on them even though she does not need any, and a small camera in her bag that she will take out the moment the light does something interesting.

Bold is the obvious quality and spontaneous is the operational one. She is the easiest woman on this list to book at short notice, because she genuinely prefers a night that was not planned three weeks ago. Her English is quick and dry. Street photography is the real work, done at night when the city is lit strangely. Snowboarding is the winter disappearance. Stand up comedy is the thing she goes to alone, usually to rooms above pubs with fifteen people in them.

Her South Bank evening starts at Leake Street, the tunnel under the station where the walls are repainted every few days and the noise of the trains comes straight through the ceiling. She photographs it constantly and has never once got the shot she wants. Afterwards there is a comedy room nearby if the night has one on, and if it does not, the river and a late plate do perfectly well instead.

Chelsea is home, and she will cross to Waterloo on an hour's notice without a word of complaint. booking can usually answer within minutes, even late, which is exactly how she likes to work.

Her home stage is Chelsea, and she travels from there to the venues this house covers. Her full listing sits with the rest of the company on the companions page.

What an evening costs

Short notice is the point with her, and most nights she can be across the river inside the hour. Two hours at £500 covers the tunnel, a room above a pub and a plate afterwards. Confirm the room while she is in the cab and the evening simply starts when she knocks.

Each length on the ladder, the travel rule and the terms for a change of plan are set out line by line on the rates page, and the wording to send sits on the booking page.

04 Scene

An evening with Stacy

She is happiest being asked at seven for eight, and she will be ready before you expect. The tunnel first, because it changes every week and she wants to see what has gone over the top of last week's work. She takes perhaps thirty photographs in ten minutes flat and then deletes most of them on the spot, without any ceremony whatsoever.

Then the night loosens. A room above a pub where somebody is trying out new material badly, which she finds far more enjoyable than watching somebody polished, and a late plate afterwards somewhere with strip lighting. She is genuinely good company at one in the morning, and she has no time whatsoever for the idea that an evening ought to finish tidily.

// Asked backstage

Stacy, in her words

An hour is plenty. I would rather be asked at seven for eight than booked a fortnight out and dreading it by then.

The city at night, mostly wet pavements and bad neon. I have been trying to get one particular shot in that tunnel for two years.

Because that is where it is genuinely alive. Half of it fails, the other half is better than anything you will see on a big stage.

// Nothing pinned here yet

No moderated note has been left for Stacy on this site so far. We publish first names, the month and the words themselves, we never invent a line, and we never print anything a companion would rather keep private. When guests do write in, their notes appear here exactly as they arrived.
