Meet Michelle

// Notes from the wings
  • 173 cm, curvy, entirely at ease with it
  • Long straight dark brown hair, attentive brown eyes
  • Late twenties, fluent English, genuinely talkative
  • Sailing, museum weekends and a serious interest in cocktails
  • Chelsea home, free most evenings and quick to confirm

Conversation with Michelle begins somewhere in the lobby, well before either of you has sat down anywhere. She is 173 cm, curvy, and carries it with the ease of somebody who stopped thinking about it years ago. Her dark brown hair is straight and worn long. Her brown eyes go straight to whoever is talking. Late twenties, she dresses warmly rather than sharply: a wrap dress, a good shawl for the river wind, earrings that catch the light when she laughs, which she does at almost anything.

Elegant is the surface and nurturing is what sits underneath it, which is an unusual combination in a city this brisk. She notices when a glass is empty and when a conversation has gone somewhere uncomfortable, and she fixes both without announcing that she has. Her English is fluent and chatty in the best sense. Sailing is the family habit she kept. Museums are the weekend default. Mixology is the newer enthusiasm, and she will rebuild your drink order if she thinks it is beneath you.

Her evening near the Strand starts in the courtyard at Somerset House, where the fountains run in summer and the whole place is lit like a stage set once it is dark. She likes the river terrace for a first drink and the walk down to the water afterwards. Dinner follows at a long table somewhere nearby, and she is at her best with a group, where she quietly makes sure that nobody at the table is left out of anything.

Chelsea is home, fifteen minutes from Strand and Aldwych at that hour. Most evenings this week are still open: write to booking and the reply lands quickly, usually with two or three hours to choose between.

Her home stage is Chelsea, and she travels from there to the venues this house covers. Her full listing sits with the rest of the company on the companions page.

What an evening costs

She answers quickly, usually within the quarter hour, and most evenings this week are open. With a table involved she is at her best on the dinner date, £900 for the four hours. Name the restaurant, or let her name one, and the desk writes the rest down.

Each length on the ladder, the travel rule and the terms for a change of plan are set out line by line on the rates page, and the wording to send sits on the booking page.

04 Scene

An evening with Michelle

She would rather start at seven than at nine, because she likes the courtyard while there is still some light in it and the fountains are still running. One drink outside, a slow lap of whatever is hanging in the galleries upstairs, and she will have got your entire week out of you before the second round arrives without ever appearing to ask.

Dinner is where she is most herself. A long table, plenty of plates in the middle, and a running commentary that keeps everybody talking to everybody else. If you have colleagues with you she will learn all their names inside ten minutes. If it is just the two of you she narrows the whole thing down, pulls her chair round, and the evening gets considerably quieter.

// Asked backstage

Michelle, in her words

Not for a moment. I am very good at tables, and by the second course they will have forgotten to be self conscious about anything at all.

Whatever the kitchen is proud of, and one drink I have had an argument with the bartender about first. Both usually work out.

Badly, and only in summer. I grew up around boats and never learned to be useful on one, which my family still finds funny.

Michelle, in the book

Michelle is on call today. Free most evenings, replies inside the quarter hour Message the desk and we will confirm the hour before anything is held.

// Nothing pinned here yet

No moderated note has been left for Michelle on this site so far. We publish first names, the month and the words themselves, we never invent a line, and we never print anything a companion would rather keep private. When guests do write in, their notes appear here exactly as they arrived.
